    • Holidays under £1000 require a 50% deposit with the balance paid 3 months prior to arrival.
  • Damage Deposits
    • We now charge a refundable damage deposit of £50.  This is a very small incentive for our customers to continue to treat our properties with respect. Also significant damages to furniture, the villa and equipment.  We are very reasonable with this and its only regarding significant damages. It is not for the odd broken glass.) This is refunded automatically within a week of your departure.

There is no mid-stay clean as standard on a 1 week booking. Your towels and bed linen will be changed. Floors and bathrooms will be cleaned: you must keep your personal belongings off the floors on cleaning day as cleaners will not move these items and your floor will then not be cleaned.

      • Artificial safety grass installed in villa Alexander: sprung with rubber, anti-fungicide saftey grass. See their official website for more details.
  • Travelling with babies/infants.
    • Taxi services all provide baby/booster seats and are all clean. Airlines let you take your buggy/pushchair to the plane door. You can take your own baby/booster seat at no extra cost on the airline. Check them in as normal and then take them to outsize luggage where they will be loaded onto your flight. All you need is provided at the villa.
  • Swimming Pool
    • Is the pools heated?
      • Our private pool is heated with an electric powered heater to ensure consistent supply.(note Solar heaters don't work!) All our pool also has a pool covers to retain the heat overnight. You do NOT have access to any other pools or communal pools
    • What size is the pool?
      • Villa Alexander- Rectangle pool with Roman steps at one end. 9m*3.9m. Depth 1m near steps - 1.65m
    • Our private pools have save stone surrounds with no sharp edges. It has cleaning filters constantly running. There is a safety ring and depth signs near the pool.
    • Our Pools are cleaned 3* a week when guests are using the villa and twice when the villa is empty, ensuring a good level of cleanliness. Please be aware that given ‘dust which often blows from the Sahara desert’ pools can get some dirt in them between cleans. Strong winds can also blow leaves and other small debris into the pools. The pool light is on into early evening for safety and this can result in some flies in the pool. A net is always supplied so any small debris as described above can be removed.  Using the pool cover will minimise any debris but not eliminate it. You should use the cover when not in use to both retain heat (the heater cannot keep the temperature if the pool over is not used) and to reduce debris.
  • Weather
    • It is sunny all year round with an average temperature of 24 degrees. Fuerteventura has the most sunlight of all the islands. You may need a jacket or cardigan for the evenings between the months of November and March. The summer temperature is normally between 25-30 degrees and can reach 35. Evening temperatures can stay in the mid 20's until quite late, when it remains in the high teens. The winter temperatures are around 20-26 degrees in daytime, while the evening temps are between 10-20 degrees. There is very little rain.
    • Fuereteventura is known for its breezes but this is a pleasant cooling breeze rather than a wind most of the year. It is windiest at the North and South of the Islands, not the centre where Caleta de Fuste is. Surprisingly the wind is strongest in the summer (when you might prefer to be cooled) and weakest in the Winter (providing for beautifully calm days). However, at our recent visit to the world Windsurfing championships in July in Costa Calma in the South, the windsurfing was delayed due to no wind!
    • Trade winds from the Sahara are a feature of the island and responsible for the sandy dunes in Correlejo. They however bring warm winds.
  • Bedrooms
    Arrangement:
Alexander - all rooms at one end of the villa in bedroom complex
  • How far is it to the town centre and facilities?
    • There are two centres in Caleta: Atlantico and the 'main Centre'. Its best to read this while looking at the map on our website.
    • Atlantico and Beach are 7 minutes walk from Alexander. The beautiful small beaches are situated here. These have the nicest sand and bathing and are shallow.
    • The main centre is 15minutes walk from Alexander. The larger beach is situated here. There are stops on the way also. You can stop and have a drink at the Beach Café half way or at the Sheraton if you are heading into the centre.
    • It is a good idea to walk into the centre on an evening and taxi back later if you have small children up to the age of 4. Taxis are only around Euro4/5 each way from the centre and less from Atlantico.
    • The campo de golf is rectangular shaped, stretching away from the beach. At the beach is the Atlantico shopping centre, which has the major Spar for your shopping basket, banks, ten pin bowling, amusement arcades, internet points, free wireless lan in cafes, bars, restaurants, icecream parlours, newspapers etc. Music events, Childrens inflatable activities, BEACH.
    • The 'main Centre' has many more restaurants and bars and entertainments and is near the larger beach.
  • Do I need to hire a car?
    • No, unless you wish to explore the island, but still it is not necessary for some trips(e.g. the zoo) and the island bus service is excellent.
    • Our experience with children from 0 - 9 also is that while a car can cost around E30 a day, we only take a taxi back in from the centres for around E3.5, and only when we decide to go in. So a car is not needed.
    • Shopping can also be brought back from Atlantico in a taxi for under Euro3.
    • Getting from the airport is only Euro14 each way in a taxi. The taxi service is efficient and arrives quickly when you call. They speak English, Spanish and German. All taxi fare price guidance is subject to change and clearly out of our control. But all trips within caleta only take a few minutes.
    • A free bus operates from the Elba Palace Golf Hotel into Caleta, with various stops along the route, including Atlantico. There is a free bus service for some excursions.
    • If you do wish to hire a car the following have offices at the airport: Avis, Cicar, Sixt, Autoreisen, Hertz, Europcar.
    •  It is best to do this before you arrive on the island to avoid paying higher prices and because there is often no supply when you are in resort. Pick up the hire car contract/key- there can be quite long queues for this so be prepared to wait a while. Or you may be able to taxi to the villa and pick up a car in Caleta later or have it deliver to the villa-depending on the service offered.
  • Is there private parking available?
    • Villa Alexander has a private driveway with space for 2 cars with lockable gates. You must request this if you wish to use. This is very rarely requested by guests as there is substantial space to park outside and the villa is on a ‘quite private’ diamond shape one way street and is NOT a through road to anywhere else. Multiple parking bays also on the street in front of the property.
  • Do you offer welcome packs of food/drink for our arrival?
    • Yes a bottle of wine, water and milk, toilet rolls, and soap, bin bags are provided free.
    • Other welcome packs of various sizes and prices are available and can be booked with your villa booking. This can be selected on booking or later via your account.
  • Plugs/Travel Adaptors, mosquito plugs etc.
    • We unfortunately don't supply these as they tend to go missing.
    • Both our Villas have mosquito nets on all bedroom and lounge windows.
  • Safety - what is provided?
    • Fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
    • 2 Smoke alarms situated in the hallway at bottom of stairs and bedroom complex hall way.
    • Pool life ring for the pool.
    • Pool depth and no diving sign.
    • Window shutters on all children's rooms (twin rooms), so you can use the mosquito nets in villa Alexander and still be secure.
    • No-mow artificial safety grass installed in villa Alexander: sprung with rubber, anti-fungicide safety grass. See their official website for more details.
  • Toys for children for pool and beach
    • As in all tourist resorts there are plenty shops with beach and pool toys like spades, buckets, floaters, arm bands etc.
    • There are also plenty of other toys for sale.  We try to remove any toys left by guests in case of broken pieces and dirt. Please discard any toys you do not intend to take home.
  • What can't I buy on the island?
    • Its tricky to get fresh whole milk as it doesn't last long, and is not supplied in great quantities. But it is available sometimes at the Spar and always at the Netto shop in the main centre near the car park and taxi rank.
    • Tea is best brought out as it is supplied but perhaps not the type you like. There is more coffee than you could ever want!
    • Olives without stones are the only other thing-look for 'sin hueso' to mean without stones. What can't I buy on the island?
  • My Booking has been made but the dates are still showing as available on a 3rd party website like VRBO. Why?
  • Our Canary Luxury Villas website now updates live and once you book your dates will be automatically blocked out.
  • However, it takes time to update all calendars on other 3rd party websites where we advertise such as VRBO.
  • If you have booked via VRBO ensure you make your next booking directly with us on Canary Luxury Villas (as that is the site of us the owner). You will receive a returning customer discount (if you’ve kept your account open with us) and not have to pay a VRBO booking fee. Booking directly is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper.  You will still be required to complete all our client account info such as flight details, address and personal contact numbers even if you have booked via a 3rd party such as VRBO.
  • Is there any noise?
    • There should be no noise from traffic of any significance at all.   Villa Alexander is in and enclosed area -see map, so there is no through-traffic.  There has never been any complaint about  noise.
    • Airplanes fly over the beach area on approach to the airport.  They are not loud as they are always coming in to land in this direction and so engines are quieter.  This has never been a concern for any of our villa customers.  Also, the hours of plane arrivals are strictly limited.  There are very few evening flights.
    • Neighbors' villas:  They are seldom occupied by holiday makers. Villa Alexander has only 1 villa to the side which is rented, the other kept for private use only.  Any guests at other villas should observe the same respect for their neighbours as you are expected to.   The resort is patrolled by security guards and police will be called if there are loud disturbances.
    • Caleta is a holiday resort but the villas on the golf course are also homes to many people who live on the island.   Villa Alexander is in the area El Descanso, meaning 'the rest' and it is just this, overlooking the golf course for superb serenity.
